Mike and Pinky

I drove to Fredericksburg this morning to visit the grave site of my parents Mike and Pinky. They lived in in Kerrville and Fredericksburg at the end of their lives and chose to be buried here. I made a stop at the local Walmart where Adrian help me purchase some flowers for the grave.

I chose 12 poinsettias, one for each of their children still here on earth, and one large poinsettia for our brother who's in heaven with them.

I'm so grateful and humbled to have had the opportunity to come back here and bring the love and prayers of our family to our parents resting place.

It has been 15 years since I have driven these streets and the town has changed quite a bit. It was always a tourist town with lots of little gift shops but it has grown quite a bit in the past few years, adding wineries and breweries. There was much I did not recognize as I drove around but without my thinking too much about it, my truck knew the way to drive me past my Mom's old house. It still look the same, pecan trees are still growing in the backyard and roosters are still crowing in the front.

Just few doors down from my mom's place, a quilt shop has opened! It wasn't open on Sunday or I would have paid them a visit!

Dexter and I took a nice walk around the park in the center of town and enjoyed the Christmas decorations.

We also walked around the memorials to the German Pioneer settlers who first came to this area.

There was a beautiful flower garden with hundreds of butterflies enjoying the nectar. I took these photos with my phone, but later went back to the car for my 35mm camera. I'll share those photos when I get them downloaded.

I enjoyed another lovely visit with my friend Janice tonight. It's been so good to reconnect and I'm grateful for the time we had to share.

Tomorrow I'm meeting my friend Sandy for a morning hike at Enchanted Rock, then I have to think about hitching up and getting back on the road. I'll be heading up towards Las Cruces New Mexico on Tuesday, and will probably overnight near Van Horn, Texas on my way.

I made a reservation today at Verde Valley Campground in Cottonwood Arizona, near Sedona, for December 13th thru the 20th. I'm looking forward to seeing the Red Rocks of Sedona again!
