New Friends in Sioux Falls, SD

There was frost on the windshield this morning and it was 27F when I left Sundance, WY. The road was long and straight and it was an easy ride today past rolling hills and lots of wide-open spaces. I passed the Badlands and could see the rock formations off to my right but there wasn't time in this trip to stop and explore. I'll have to save that one for another time. Originally I had scheduled to stop in Mitchell South Dakota, but a couple who have an Escape model 19 on order and live in Sioux Falls South Dakota, just another hour down the road from my scheduled stop, contacted me on the Escape trailer Forum to see if we could meet up. I got an early start and was making good time so it was easy to continue on to Sioux Falls and I was happy to have an opportunity to meet Ken and Karla. With 414 miles under my belt today, I arrived at the Flying J truck stop at about 4 p.m. and found a cozy parking spot between a big trailer and a semi. Put the X chocks on the wheels and lock them down and unplugged from the truck and put out the welcome mat for Ken and Karla. They arrived about 5 p.m. and we had a lovely chat and tour of Wild Thing. They took me for a ride around town and see the Falls that inspired the town's name. We enjoyed a walk through the park along the Sioux River, then they treated me to a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. It was so lovely meeting Ken and Karla and sharing their excitement for the adventure of traveling. Their trailer will be ready in January, but they plan to wait until Chilliwack thaws out before they pick it up! Perhaps we will see each other at the Escape rally in Osoyoos in May! Thank you my new friends it was wonderful to meet you and have some time together and dinner was such a treat. I hope our paths cross again soon!

Now I'm tucked into my cozy home for the night underneath the full moon and hope to have a good rest before continuing on tomorrow to Iowa
