Hurricane Harvey

I have been working on a post about the things I'm am packing for Wild Thing, but I'm finding it an impossible task today.  My thoughts and my prayers are with all the folks so direly affected by Hurricane Harvey and I'm wishing I could just box up all the stuff instead up and send it to Texas.  I know that's not a practical way to help, but my heart is breaking seeing the reports coming from Houston. I lived in Texas for over 15 years, some of that time along the Gulf Coast, and I still have many family members and friends there, all of whom thankfully seem to be managing so far. I will make a donation instead in the hope that it will help. I have been so proud and encouraged by the outpouring of support offered by First Responders, Healthcare Professionals, and just ordinary folks helping Neighbors. We are a Nation of Neighbors, and we can work together to take care of each other. There is much I feel I have no control over in our current political climate, much I feel helpless to change. But I do have control over whether I help my fellow man. I'm going to vote to help, directly, and with my dollars, today. Every dollar donated will help and together, I believe, we can make a difference for those in need.

Here is a good resource from NPR listing ways to help.  I hope you will join me today in offering what support you can to our Neighbors affected by Hurricane Harvey and in sending a big Thank You to all the boots on the ground offering aid.
